When it comes to Airbnb hosting, making sure your guests have everything they need (and more!) is the key to success. Some of the top comments we receive from our Airbnb guests mention the fact that we had all of the essential items they needed. We feel confident that if you supply your guests with the items we mention in this post, you’ll be sure to get raving reviews just like us!
This post is all about the Airbnb bedroom essentials we believe you NEED in your home!
1. Comfortable Mattress
There is nothing (and yes, I mean NOTHING) worse than climbing into bed after a long day of travel, only to be greeted by an uncomfortable, cold bed. This has happened to me many times, as I’m sure you’ve experienced it as well. As an Airbnb host, believe me when I say this is one of the top areas your guests will critique. Keep in mind that the majority of people like to sleep on a firmer mattress. These Zinus Mattresses from Amazon are a great, affordable option. They also happen to be the exact mattresses we have in our Airbnb!
2. Great Quality Sheets
We all know one of the greatest feelings of all time is getting into a bed with freshly-cleaned sheets. Well, when those sheets are also soft and cozy it makes the experience that much better. This means that along with the perfect mattress, great quality sheets are the perfect touch to the perfect bed. (Did I just break the record for the most times the word “perfect” has been used in one sentence?)
These BEDSURE Queen Sheets are only $20 from Amazon! Don’t let the cheap price fool you, these are some of the most comfortable, soft sheets I’ve ever ordered. I can fully attest to this as I have them on my own beds at home. Buy these for your guests and you’ll have them sleeping like a baby!
3. Alarm Clock
Although we live in a time where probably 99% of us use our cell phones for our alarms, there is still the 1% that utilized a real, old-fashioned alarm clock. (My mother would be appalled at the fact that I just called alarm clocks “old-fashioned”. Sorry mom.) Be sure to have one clock in each bedroom for your guests to use, if desired. Keep quick instructions of how to set the alarm nearby as well. You can get as fancy or basic as you want, but these alarm clocks from Amazon are a great affordable option!
4. Throw Blankets
Throw blankets are on the list of top Airbnb bedroom essentials due to the fact that give guests the option to adjust their sleeping environment depending on their preferred temperature. If your Airbnb home is located in an area with a cooler climate, it gives them the ability to add layers when needed. These Bare Home Microplush Bed Blankets from Target are a great option and come in a variety of colors.
5. TVs
I 100% believe that there are two types of people in this world. Those that watch TV in bed at night and those that don’t. If you are the latter of the two, then you might find it ridiculous to have a TV for every individual room. However, I can assure you that your guests will appreciate the option to relax in bed with a little TV before they fall asleep. Some of my favorite past times involve cozying up in bed with an episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. or Forensic Files. (Two very different shows for two very different moods.) We have these exact Roku TVs in our vacation rental! We enjoy a smart TV option for our guests so they have access to major streaming services.

6. Laundry Basket
If guests have booked a stay that extends longer than a couple of days, you can assume that they are going to want to do a load of laundry during their stay. Providing a few laundry baskets for them will help your guests feel accommodated.
7. Black-Out Shades
Remember that *most* of your guests are on vacation. This often means that they will want to sleep in and enjoy a few extra hours of that REM cycle! Taking the time to pay attention to the little details, like offering black-out shades, will make your guests feel appreciated and cared-for. A classic roller shade, like this one from Amazon, will get the job done!
8. Night Light
In addition to having night lights in your bedrooms, adding them to your longer hallways and bathrooms are essential as well. We prefer a “Dusk to Dawn” sensor activated night lights because they allow you to keep them plugged in and only illuminate when needed.
9. Full-Length Mirror
As an Airbnb host, you want to be sure you’re doing everything you can that will make your guests think “Wow, they’ve really thought of everything!” Adding a full-length mirror, like these over-the-door mirrors, to your Airbnb bedroom will make your guests do just that. This is because it is often times an over-looked” essential.
4 Honorable Mentions:
- Robes: A fun addition to add to your bedrooms to give your guests the ultimate relaxing stay!
- Safe: Although it is not an essential item, some guests may appreciate the option to store their valuables in a safe.
- Space Heater/AC Unit: Check out each of your bedrooms and make sure each room is getting the same airflow as the rest of the house. Sometimes, older homes might have some rooms that aren’t ventilated as well as the others. If this is true for your home, make sure to supply a space heater, AC unit, or additional fan for your guests.
- Hangers: Having a few hangers in each closet is a good addition that your guests will most likely utilize!
Now that you have our list of our top Airbnb bedroom essentials, you’ll be sure to create the perfect oasis for your guests! You’ll be a Superhost in no time!
